(inspired by my trip to Florida and the Caribbean- Sept 2014)
new world
heat
sun light floods
our eyes, hitting
the bronze sand and
brimming infinite crystals
stretching miles down the
shoreline.
water
the emerald tides
lap our golden
toes, eager for a taste
of warm cooled skin
shipwrecked on a no-escape
island.
sky
a balmy breeze
whistles a secret
melody secluded from
the cloudless aria,
playing its heart-strings into
the wind.
trees
palm hands and
tired bones
rest peacefully under
the tall shade
of ancient fathers protecting
shelter.
birds
vibrant feathers
captured from
the earth, look up
and admire
the oddity of its majestic
wings.
land
rich colors of this
new found world.
discovered with a pair of
fresh eyes, waiting to be
unearthed, ready to be
home.
