Life Update #4 (Back Home in the States!)

Yes, I’m back!

After an eleven-hour direct flight on Saturday, I have finally returned to Los Angeles. It’s been eight months away and while I had a blast in France, I’m also glad to *finally* be home.

Life Update in France #3 (I’m Going Home?!)

It’s incredible to realize that I haven’t written one of these “life updates” in over four months, with the last one being back in January, right after coming back from the vacances de Noël. In any case, so much has happened since then, and I thought that I would dedicate a post to catch you up-to-speed with what has been going on.

How to Set Up Your Cellphone in France

It’s been a long while since I’ve made a “TAPIF/living abroad” kind of post. I was actually a bit hesitant to do so, considering that for many of us, we’ve already been settled in France for several months now, some of us even leaving within the next month or so to return home!

Life Update in France #2 (and 2016 Recap!)

Bonne année!

I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season and rang in the 2017 year in good spirits. For myself, I had a wonderful vacances de Noël, visiting a bit more of Europe with great people and plenty of photos for memories. I returned to Normandy earlier this week and the following day went right back to work. Still was in the holiday mindset (as so were many of my students, I could tell), but otherwise, the first week back was all right.

My Housing Situation in France

Having lived in France for almost two years (with the exception of going home in the summer due to VISA restrictions), I have had my fair share of living in and experiencing housing in the country. From my first year as an assistante in a small town to my (current) second year as an assistante again in another small town in Normandy, I would like to share my personal experiences living in these places.

How Internet Came to be in my Flat

Story time, folks.

As you might know, I had no Internet in my flat for almost a month since arriving to France. In fact, it wasn’t until earlier last week that I finally got it. Considering that it was no easy feat for acquiring such an essential piece of technology, I thought that I would recount to you the crazy, nightmarish process of how the Internet came to be in my home.

Without further ado, c’est parti!

The Internet is Back!!!

Hello, there!

As you can tell by the title of this post, there is *finally* stable Internet in my flat! I’ve been without it for almost a month in France (which is absolutely ridiculous), and while it was a long, convoluted, nightmarish road to acquiring it, I’m just so glad that it’s here (and to stay, hopefully!).

I’ll spare you the details of how I got my Internet (maybe save it for another post), but until then, expect more posts to come soon. I’ll also *finally* update my French blog C’est la vie américaine later this week, so expect that as well.

Any case, this post is simply for me to update you on what’s been happening overseas. Again, I’m just so glad things are coming into place; until then, à bientôt!

Life Update in France

It’s been over two weeks since I’d arrived in France and so far, things have been pretty good. I haven’t written a single post since I left Los Angeles (but you probably didn’t notice because I had scheduled posts while I was away), and frankly, I’ve been missing it. There’s still no Internet at my flat (currently using the school’s computers right now), but I hope that it’ll get resolved soon!

Any case, what’s been going on since I landed in France?  Because I’m under a time crunch (school’s only open until noon today, as I’m writing this) and the fact that I’m just, well, a bit lazy, I will just list away:

How to Survive your OFII Appointment

Bonjour, tout le monde!

You might think that, after getting your VISA and making it through stage/formation, you’re finally ready to start living the life in France for the next few months.

Not so fast.

Before you can finally breathe again, there’s one more *very important* thing you must do in order to officially (and legally) work in France: surviving your OFII appointment.
